Joe's been around Roanoke Island marinas for more than the last 20 years starting with Pirate's Cove marina in the late '80's and building that marina and its ship's store to be a thriving operation. He's known for taking care of his slip owners and their boats.

There's just about nothing Joe doesn't know about boating on the Outer Banks.

After retiring from Pirate's Cove, he was brought back at Shallowbag Bay marina which Joe set up, and got running. Then he thought of retiring yet again, but was lured back to the docks to finish and manage Marshes Light marina pretty much from the day the community received marina approval. While the slips were all in when Joe arrived, he's spent the last few months making them ready for both owners and transient boats who may want to pay Manteo a visit.
