Just a year ago, the Manteo-Marshes Light boardwalk was completed and now walkers and bikers, families and dogs, visitors and natives all have a little more than 2 miles of waterfront walkway to meander from the furthest most end of the Marshes Light Marina all the way to the bridge over to Festival Park.

Some walk the boardwalk early so they can watch the sun rise over the water. Others want that fresh sea air to overtake them. Still others just need a bit of exercise after lunch or dinner . . . but Marshes Light as a community and as part of Manteo is in full bloom.

The tree lined streets and marina facilities have all taken shape. It's been welcomed into the fabric of Manteo, like another patch in a hand sewn quilt. It brings balance and diversity to what has come before. And the promise of what will come tomorrow.
