Back not too long ago in 2003, the property that is now Marshes Light housed a boat repair business along with a run down, old farmhouse that had been well loved by several previous generations when the land was a dairy farm. The town of Manteo along with other private visionaries saw the great potential for the land and the excitement that it could bring to help in the revitalization of Manteo's downtown.
A year went into the planning and the development of a site plan that would keep the beauty and the texture of the property intact, as well as become a thriving arm of Manteo's downtown. The plan revolved around the water and mixing the small town charm of a coastal community, with the vibrancy and perpetual motion of a boat marina. It mixed old with new. It took the coastal architecture that was the character and charm of Manteo and peppered it with more contemporary design features. The plan changed, evolved and finally took shape into a unique mix of a marina, villa homes, single family homes, retail space with flats above; and a future hotel all in the mix.
And rather than tearing down the old farmhouse originally on the property, it was carefully moved and restored as part of Marshes Light. To take a closer look at how Marshes Light can meet your real estate needs, take a look at all we have to offer.
