It’s a delight each year to visit the New World Festival of the Arts in downtown Manteo, NC. Paintings, jewelry, sculpture of glass, wood and metal, and pottery to name a few of the treasures found along the waterfront.
One of my favorite is the work of Martha Johnson who creates images of mixed media, fabric, paper, stamps, tied together more often than not with quotes and other words to live by. I purchased two little framed pieces for a couple of friends. You can see Martha’s work at the Front Porch Cafe.
Manteo has changed a lot since I lived there in 1979. The downtown area has transformed into a walking, shopping and dining village along an active marina and next to Festival Park , the Outer Banks History Center and the replica of the Elizabeth II. Please make sure you visit Manteo on your next trip to the Outer Banks.
