The Making of Mayberry was the title of an article that appeared in the May 2007 New York Times about the Town of Manteo.
On a beautiful afternoon recently, my pals Ann and Stephanie joined me on a little tour around Manteo in a little electric open air car (I feel like I should sing the theme song to the Flintstones as I drive along in it – if you’ve seen one of these little Global Electric Motorcars, you would understand why).
But here’s what I’m talking about – neat little porches, side yards and gardens, cozy cottages, arbors and an array of southern flowers spilling over a walkway or fence.
